Keeper by Mal Peet

I sincerely suggest Keeper, to anyone who likes to read.  It is an amazing book about the world famous goalie, El Gato (the cat).  The book is based upon an interview with Paul Faustino interviewing and El Gato being interviewed.  El Gato talks about  his long untold past, his ghostly but very real mentor, The Keeper, and the tiny logging town in the middle of the South American jungle of his childhood.  Hour after hour his unbelievable tale unfolds.  Paul Faustino is almost sure he his lying but El Gato appears, and is truthful.  Set during the late 1900s after the defeat of the German team in the World Cup, El Gato brings the reader back in time to meet The Lost Ones and the young superstar.
Keeper is a stupendous book, and a must read!

Private Captain by Marty Crisp

Private Captain is a great book about the Civil War.  It has very interesting and convincing characters with very realistic and strong emotions.  The book is very fast in the beginning but slows down towards the end.  It is a great read but it is extremely gory at the end on the battlefield.
Private Captain is a compelling story about a boy, Ben, trying to find his brother Reuben Reynolds, in the 106th Pennsylvania company "A."  His path leads him to Gettysburg on the fatefull day, July 2nd, 1863.  On his journey he learns the "Rebs" and the "Yanks" are both human. He also learns the true meaning of war.  He, his pesky cousin, a cow, and a dog join him on an amazing, life changing adventure into the minds of innocent civilians, deserters, and enemy soldiers.  I suggest this book to anyone interested in the Civil War or anyone who likes historical fiction and is a little bit familiar with old time language such as anyroad, (anyway) dadblamed, and bootlicker.

Firestar's Quest by Erin Hunter

I would suggest Firestar's Quest to anyone who likes the Warriors series or who likes adventure and talking cats. If you decide to read Firestar's Quest you should probably read some of the other books in the series or you may find yourself lost in a land of rituals and not-as-well developed characters. Firestar's Quest is descriptive with very realistic characters making them surprisingly easy to connect to, as all the characters are cats. The one thing that I don't like is a suspicious lot of good luck follows the characters.
Firestar's Quest is about Firestar's quest (surprise, surprise) to find the last, lost clan of cats driven out of the forest because there wasn't enough territory to go around. Firestar, the leader of Thunderclan, and Sandstorm, his mate, go out to where the clan's second home was and gather the kittypets (pet cats) and rogues with Sky clan blood who were scattered by a mysterious force lurking in the darkness. In his "clan hunt" Firestar meets many interesting figures and old Skyclan members. Through good and bad times the cats must stick together but when the force in the darkness begins to stir they begin to fall apart. Can Firestar save them? Too find out read Firestar's Quest.

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

In my humble opinion, I would heartily suggest Rick Riordan's latest masterpiece of mythology, The Lost Hero. I think The Lost Hero is a good book because it is a nicely balanced mix of humor and adventure. Its characters are rather well-developed but I think they were launched into the plot too quickly.
The Lost Hero is about three main characters: Jason, Leo, and Piper. Each one of them must overcome mental and physical barriers and their closest kept secrets and memories are beginning to stir. They must embark on a dangerous quest to find a mysterious and ancient 'mistress' after being attacked by storm spirits and dumped into a new world. If you read Rick Riordan's past series and liked them, this series is for you.If you haven't read them, then you probably should read them before this one because they are a good introduction to his world of demigods.
